Benefit elections are an important decision and, under IRS guidelines, can only be changed once a year during the annual open enrollment period. Outside of this window, changes to your coverage are only permitted if you experience a qualifying life event as outlined in Section 125 of the IRS code. If you experience one of these qualifying events, you must notify HR and provide the necessary documentation within 30 days of the event to request adjustments to your benefits.
